Stephen Colbert Nails Congressman on Ten Commandments Issue

So very, very classic. Crooks and Liars has the video and transcript up. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) is co-sponsoring a bill to allow Georgia courthouses to display the Ten Commandments.

Can you guess what his response was when Colbert asked him to name the Commandments? Check out the video to find out.

I just watched the video again and one of my favorite questions went something like this:

Stephen: Why do you feel it's important to post the Commandments in courthouses?

Westmoreland: Something like "I can't think of a better place to display them"

Stephen: That brings up a good question: Can you event think of another building that would better to display the commandments in?

Westmoreland: No, not really.

Brilliant. Can you readers think of a better place to post them?

  1. That was a hilarious interview. I wonder if Colbert had any idea that Westmoreland didn’t know most of the 10 Commandments?
