Word Parser in Chief

Former CIA man Larry Johnson over at No Quarter talks about Bush’s statement yesterday, “I don’t think we ever said — at least I know I didn’t say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein”

And we thought Bill Clinton was funny for trying to figure out what the meaning of “is” is? Compared to Clinton, George W. Bush is the King of Comedy. The President is right. He never specifically said that “there was a direct connection between September 11th and Saddam Hussein.” But, he did say there was a direct tie between Iraq and Al Qaeda. In fact, Bush and his Administration worked overtime to fully link the phrase Al Qaeda with Saddam Hussein.

He then goes on to quote a NYT piece which lists a number of quotes from the Administration in which they conflated Hussein, Al Queda, and 9/11.

Good stuff, check it out.

  1. Hopefully historians will eventually be able to separate the information from the disinformation and the truth from the lies but for the time being we have to put up with a thick fog with occasional shafts of brilliant sunshine.
