Ex-CIA Agent reveals Bush Ignored WMD-Intel Before Invasion of Iraq

The evidence continues to mount.

Due to appear on CBS's 60 Minutes this Sunday, a former high ranking CIA agent reveals that the CIA brought the administration evidence that there was no WMD capability in Iraq nearly 6 months before we invaded.

"[The source] told us that there were no active weapons of mass destruction programs," says Drumheller. "The [White House] group that was dealing with preparation for the Iraq war came back and said they were no longer interested. And we said 'Well, what about the intel?' And they said 'Well, this isn't about intel anymore. This is about regime change.' "

They didn't want any additional data from Sabri because, says Drumheller: "The policy was set. The war in Iraq was coming and they were looking for intelligence to fit into the policy."

So, you know all those things the administration was telling us about WMDs, mushroom clouds, how Iraq could strike with WMDs within 45 minutes, and how this was a war of last resort?

Lies.

How anyone can trust this administration after the lies, billions of dollars spent, and tens of thousands of lives lost as a result of this mess is just plain beyond me. I'd like to hear some reasonable argument to defend this tragic policy of deception and incompetence.

Anyone?
